Dr. Taylor Groth's Therapeutic Approach
My overarching goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, warm, and accepting space where clients feel comfortable being open and trusting. I believe that meaningful change begins within a strong therapeutic relationship, and I prioritize establishing and maintaining this connection with each client.

I take a client-centered, integrative approach to treatment, grounded in the belief that every individual is unique and shaped by their personal history, experiences, and current challenges. Therapy with me is tailored to each client’s specific needs, goals, and strengths rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model.

With a background in psychodynamic and interpersonal approaches, as well as extensive training in evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I conceptualize clients from a dynamic and relational perspective. This includes considering developmental history and past and present relationships to better understand patterns and themes that influence current functioning. Through curiosity and exploration, therapy fosters insight and self-awareness. I incorporate CBT techniques to help clients identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. I also draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), integrating strategies for distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and mindfulness.

Working With Children
When working with children, my goal is to help them feel safe, understood, and supported. Children often communicate their thoughts and feelings through play, behavior, and creativity rather than words alone. I meet each child where they are developmentally and emotionally, using a warm, flexible, and child-centered approach to help them express themselves and build skills for coping and growth.

Therapy may include play-based interventions, conversation, creative activities, and skill-building exercises designed to support emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social development. I help children better understand their feelings, develop healthy coping strategies, and strengthen their ability to navigate challenges at home, school, and with peers. Sessions are structured to be supportive and engaging, while still tailored to each child’s unique needs and goals.

Support for Parents and Caregivers

Parents and caregivers play a vital role in a child’s emotional well-being and progress in therapy. I work collaboratively with families to provide guidance, psychoeducation, and practical strategies that support children outside of sessions.

This may include regular parent check-ins, parent-management strategies, and support around behavior, emotional regulation, anxiety, attention, or social challenges. My goal is to help parents better understand their child’s needs, strengths, and emotional experiences, while also feeling confident in how to respond and support them at home, school, and in the community.

For adolescents, parent involvement is thoughtfully balanced with respect for privacy and independence, ensuring that teens feel safe and supported while parents remain appropriately informed and engaged.
